Background

Originally I read Physics at Durham University before stepping away after the first year to travel, first across South Southeast Asia, then settling in New Zealand for several years. While there I worked across agriculture, construction and butchery roles in varied and diverse teams.

Returning to London, I built on the experience to become a skilled butcher among some of the city's leading establishments, before starting my own business making and selling charcuterie and artisan butcher products. The pandemic brought that venture to an end, and I found myself looking for a new direction.

That search led me into IT, where I'm now focused on data, cloud, and security. I'm currently studying for a BSc in Data Science and Computing at Birkbeck, University of London, with one year remaining. Alongside that, i am studying for the AWS Cloud Solutions Architect Associate, with the CompTIA Security+ next on the roadmap, then HashiCorp Terraform Associate. I am also actively using linux and containerization/Docker. I have developed a deep interest and appreciation for IT infrastructure and feel i can bring a lot to the space. Additionally, I have a genuine enthusiasm for AI and experiment with locally run models using my Python functions as tools. I'm fascinated with where it's heading, and more broadly with the future of humanity over the coming decades.

Alongside my technical study, I've taught butchery courses for several years and am developing a comprehensive, full-carcass butchery course that will be taught with friends across London and South West England.

Outside of work, I'm a proud, new father, an unexpected detour that reshaped my life, but one I wouldn't change for anything. I'm also an enthusiast of Chinese culture, language, and its political and historical complexities. I'm into fitness, mostly calisthenics and bouldering, and have a keen interest in healthy living and longevity. I’ve recently developed a passion for creative writing, mainly focusing on sci-fi. When time allows, I enjoy reading and gaming (check my culture page for some truely incredible gaming and book recommendations).
